Volvo Group IP - IP Strategy & Portfolio - ensures that development and use of IP is directly aligned with, and driven by, business priorities to support profitability, competitiveness and growth.
We are now looking for an IP Portfolio Partner to be the operative engine in the IP Strategy & Portfolio function. As IP Portfolio Partner you will i) be operative and analytical support in the development of IP strategies, ii) be operative and analytical support in development, management and use of IP portfolios, and iii) be responsible for IP management performance metrics and reporting.
You will report to the Group Director IP Strategy & Portfolio.
Main Responsibilities
1. As operative and analytical support in the development of IP strategies
• Support data gathering, analysis and drafting in the development of the Group IP Strategy and subsequent business domain-specific IP strategies, including the translation of business strategies and plans into IP priorities
• Support assessment of projects regarding relevance for generating new IP
• Manage harmonized templates and guidelines for IP strategy development
2. As operative and analytical support in development, management and use of IP portfolios
• Support the operational execution of IP strategies with appropriate data and analyses as regards managing IP portfolios, proactively generating new IP, managing IP portfolio strategic risk, utilizing IP portfolios to create business value, and continuously trimming the IP portfolios
• Support development projects in translating and balancing IP targets into project requirements
• Support IP intelligence work, including landscapes, analyses and reports, and its alignment with Group IP Strategy needs
• Support the continuous improvement of processes, methods, and tools for executing IP strategies globally
3. As responsible for IP management performance metrics and reporting
• Drive data gathering and report compilation on IP-related metrics
• Manage patent portfolio databases and IT systems including generating reports and recording acquired patent portfolios

Minimum Education and Experience
• At least B.Sc. in engineering or equivalent technical degree
• A business administration degree is an advantage but not a requirement
• Demonstrated experience from IP operations at a multinational corporation or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience from supporting and interacting with senior management, preferably in relation to strategy development
Critical Competencies and Skills
• Strong analytical skills including the ability to manage and compile large amounts of complex and diverse data, and to understand and extract the business implications of the data
• Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial drive
• Service-minded with strong customer focus
• Preferably working knowledge of patents, trademarks, designs, and trade secrets as well as up-to-date knowledge of IP trends, developments, and practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
