MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.



Your team
The insertion Devices (ID) group is responsible of design, development and operation of Insertion Devices for the different beamlines at MAX IV Laboratory.

Each beamline is fed by insertion device, undulator or wiggler, which consists of an array of permanent magnets that provide an alternating static magnetic field that forces the electron beam to oscillate and thus radiating photon beam. The different ID's cover photon energy range from VUV to hard X-rays at the three accelerators at MAX IV, the low emittance 3 GeV ring, the 1.5 GeV ring and the 3 GeV linear accelerator as a source for short pulses. MAX IV are looking for an Insertion Devices (ID) technician who will contribute to the construction, operation and maintenance of the ID's and the magnetic measurement systems at MAX IV Laboratory.

Your main work tasks will be

- Contribute to the construction work, commissioning, maintenance and operation of insertion devices (ID) for the different accelerators within MAX IV laboratory.
- Operate, maintain, assemble and upgrade the different magnetic measurement system at the Insertion device magnet lab. The magnetic measurement systems consist of Hall probe system, Flip coil system, the stretched wire system and pulsed wire system.
- Prepares, collects, and summarizes measurement data results and assists with the interpretation of the measurement data.
- Performs assembly operations and modifications, including troubleshooting and upgrades of precision electromechanical equipment.
- Perform magnetic tuning of insertion devices with the aid of the magnetic measurement systems, analysis tools and the ID team.
- Provides technical support during operations including the on-call services for the ID's operation.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- Successful candidate will have an Associate's degree in technical specialty with at least 3 years experience in technical/R&D-based environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and knowledge of applicable measurement techniques and experience with high magnetic field, high current devices and processes is advantageous.
- Must be familiar with measurement equipment and instrumentation.
- Must be able to run tests and experiments and gather and reduce data.
- Must have good mechanical skills and be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.

- The ability to work in multi-disciplinary environment as part of the ID team.
- The ability to learn new skills, as required by the tasks with the help of the ID team
