Right now, we're searching for a Infrastructure Manager in our Stockholm office - are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
The role
As the Infrastructure manager you will lead the Content Infrastructure team, a team of 7 individuals (sysadmins and SREs) being their direct reporting manager and operational leader.
You will, among other things:
• Lead the work of developing, improving, and implementing effective backlog planning.
• Support the group with what should be prioritized, follow-up and resource planning.
• Coach, develop and challenge your employees.
• Proactively build trust with stakeholders relevant to the group's work and goal achievement.
• Work with competence development and recruitment to ensure that the group has the right conditions.
• Be responsible for budget and resource distribution within your group.
Alongside with the experience as a manager you use your competence as system administrator when coaching, leading, and coordinating the team ensuring that we retain stable, up to date and modern systems to serve Viaplay Group's numerous services ranging from internal development to customer facing streaming.
The team works with all the pillars of infrastructure - Compute, Network, Storage, and Security - in a hybrid cloud environment. Their daily responsibilities lie within, but not limited to:
• Provide private cloud services through Proxmox and Hyper-V
• Manage multi-petabyte storage to several departments
• Build and manage the streaming platform where all Viaplay Sports and streaming TV channels originate
As a part of the process, we will also do a background check with all candidates.
What we're looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that's why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you'll have at least some experience in the following:
We believe that you have been working as a senior system administrator or infrastructure architect, and have a proven track record of successfully managing a sysadmin team.
The tech knowledge is important, thus it is not necessary to be the expert as the expertise lies within the team. We rather see you as being a native leader with interest in mentoring and coaching being a good listener and advisor.
When it comes to tech knowledge, we want you to have experiences within:
• Linux
• How to script, preferably in Python and/or shell.
• Knowledge about the OSI model.
• Knowledge about differences between block, object and file based systems.
• General knowledge in managing a various amount of different hardware.
We also think that you have a can-do attitude, a sense of humor and the ability to communicate and work humbly with others.
