HCL uses Hybrid cloud infrastructure platform using one or more technologies like Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX, Openstack, IBM, Azure and AWS to host their customer's application services and workloads in the cloud. The Infrastructure Lead Consultant will be an expert in environment automation and will be persistently seeking ways to improve platform stability and increase the pace of change, whilst protecting service and increasing the business value. Whilst a deep technical role this role will also include client facing meetings in which solutions are discussed and will also include the initial setup and deployment of new solutions to client.


Organisation chart:
The successful candidate will report to the head of infrastructure architect responsible for the solutions, consulting and systems integration of Hybrid cloud transformation programme. The Lead Architect will liaise extensively with

1. Customers for developing low level design and build/deployment automation scripts
2. IT/Infrastructure teams involved in transformation project delivery
3. Application development and support teams
4. Pre-sales team helping with technical design, bill of quantity, effort estimation around build and automation

Main Responsibility:
Lead the design of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure solution to meet business requirements

1. Implement and maintains a 'self-service' Hybrid Cloud IaaS and PaaS platform, enabling project teams to select and deploy environments for development, testing and live without the need for a Public Cloud Infrastructure Developers - effectively the process for deploying environments is fully automated (genuinely self-service) in a controlled and consistent way.
2. Ensure scalability, reliability, security and efficiency of Customer's systems.
3. Design and build large scale distributed systems.
4. Work with other engineering teams to accelerate software delivery
5. Build automation to provide templates and tools to delivery teams in the Development and Operations organisation practicing DevOps culture
6. Mentor other team members and Help shape them to learn and excel in infrastructure platform development expertise
7. Help define processes and standards, following industry best practices


Language:
• Fluent verbal and written English
• Candidates applying outside UK should have fluent in speaking Swedish, French or German


Qualifications and requirements:
Basic Requirements - Essential
Education: Bachelors' degree
Professional Certifications: Azure or AWS Developer or Certifications
Work Experience:
• Broad project lifecycle experience - especially in Enterprise environments
• hands-on, highly technical with strong experience in systems engineering.
• In-depth understanding of:
• Linux and Microsoft operating systems;
• delivering Infrastructure, Platform and Software as a Service solutions using Public Cloud services, such as AWS, or Azure and open source technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Terraform, and Jenkins;
Technical Skills:
• Networking experience and understanding of network (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc) OSI layers, DNS, VPN, Firewalls and load balancing.
• Has proven experience working with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management systems and CI/CD.
• managing source code and package repositories such as GitHub, Visual Source Safe and Aptly;
• experience with databases - MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, MySQL and AWS RDS, NoSQL;
• virtualisation and automation solutions

• Ability to work under stringent timeline
• Flexible for short term business travels

Ideal Requirements (Advantageous)
Education: Masters' degree
Professional Certifications: Any advanced Cloud Architect Certifications
Work Experience: - Has operational experience working with large, highly available, highly transactional systems on private and public clouds.
• Understands how to analyze and present operational metrics and use that data to optimize systems
Technical Skills: - Experience in one or more of these programming languages: Ruby, Python, Go or Shell
• Experience managing projects and artefacts using JIRA and Confluence
