The role
The Infrastructure Engineer is highly experienced in server platform design and operation along with knowledge and experience of running operations in co-location data centers.
The Infrastructure Engineer works in a cutting edge environment, meaning use of the latest technologies in a very dynamic business. You will be part of creating the foundation for successful IT operations.
As an Infrastructure Engineer you are assigned an important and crucial task. Functional systems are a key factor in order to deliver services to customers worldwide. The company strives to achieve its targets in ?best in class? operation and cost efficient production environment. Infrastructure Engineers shall take lead to reach the target within the remit.
Key responsibilities
• Design, development, test and implementation of server platform infrastructure and software.
• Design and implement strategy and blueprint of Data Center setup and layout.
• Physical implementation of hardware and cabling in Data Centers.
• Assist team members with on-site troubleshooting, replacement and repair of hardware.
• Project estimates, -evaluations and -quality assurance within the remit.
• Follow market trends within the area in order to secure efficiency in both operational environment and cost.
• Lifecycle Management of server infrastructure and support team members in life cycle management of other on site equipment.
• Handling of incoming Service requests, Incidents, Change requests and Problems within the remit.
• Operate and manage server platforms within department.
• Patch Management of server infrastructure within department remit.
• Secure proper server monitoring and surveillance.
• Maintain accurate and up to date information in CMDB regarding server and infrastructural equipment.
• Develop and maintain processes, routines and documentation in order to deliver highly automated, accurate and efficient system environment.
• Managing consultants and temporary resources assigned a mission within the area of responsibility.
Must haves include
• Deep knowledge and at least 5 years of experience in operations of Microsoft Windows based platforms.
• Experience in operations of Linux based platform.
• Knowledge and experience in sserver hardware sizing.
• Experience of working with x86 server hardware from vendors such as HP, Cisco, IBM and Dell.
• Experienced in vmWare, Linux KVM and Xen virtualization software.
• At least 3 years of experience in Data Center operations with all relevant tasks (e.g cabling, hardware installation and utilization planning).
• Fluent in written as well as spoken English
• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
