Information Practice Director

At AstraZeneca our Biometrics & Information Sciences (B&I) department is an integral part of Global Medicines Development (GMD) and is the home of statistical, programming and information experts for late stage drug development. As a dedicated unit within Biometrics & Information Sciences, the Information Practice team has a novel structure designed to drive creative and optimal use of internal and external sources of information in design and decision making to add value to the portfolio. It champions Good Information Practice to drive efficiency and maximize information re-use. AstraZeneca's Information Practice is an innovative place and by working as Information Practice Director (IPD) you continuously improve customer value by developing & strengthening the IP capability to consistently deliver the Information Practice scope of Services across the AZ Therapy Areas, now and into the future.

Role

This is a strategic role which spans operationalizing opportunities, to ensuring adoption, and achieving the ultimate outcome. You will collaborate broadly across science units and at all levels to achieve your purpose, and also with external partners. In this role there are no direct reports, but you may lead delivery with other IP staff, partners and suppliers.

Responsibilities

As an Information Practice Director, you will:

* Drive identification, development and consistent adoption of Good Practice for the Service(s), in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
* Take business ownership of Processes and Information tools.
* Lead global programmes/projects to deliver and improve the Service(s), e.g. Industry collaborations and Information-related improvement projects.
* Have an outlook, develop strategy, and operationalize opportunities into enhanced IP Service(s). By Leadership team commissioning, investigate new Service opportunities.

In close partnership with the IP leadership team, you will establish strong relationships with relevant stakeholders both externally and across AZ science units, functions and TAs, and promote Information Practice within AZ and in the outside community.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have a strong track record of establishing good practice in a regulated environment and excellent knowledge of evidence based drug development. You will be a strong leader who enjoys the challenge of solving problems in a collaborative way.

Additionally, you will have:

* Experience of clinical program design and associated knowledge management
* Experience of leading change management
* Fantastic communication skills - concisely relay strategic and technical information, ability to construct business cases, engage stakeholders, and implement projects
* Experience of developing and using appropriate methods to identify and generate robust evidence for portfolio decision-making.
* Ability to anticipate future needs, work autonomously, make sound decisions, and think broadly to see the bigger picture
* Well-developed conceptual and integrative thinking
* Demonstrated thought leadership in a relevant topic
* Working knowledge of at least one of our therapeutic areas - Oncology, CVMD, Respiratory, Infection and Autoimmunity.
* Project &/or Programme Management Experience
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent. Preferably a post-graduate qualification.
