JOB DESCRIPTION
As component engineer your work will focus on scouting for and test of image sensor components before integration in platforms and Axis cameras. This will cover both visual light and thermal (IR) imaging sensors. You will work in tandem with our current component engineers and the rest of the team to ensure that Axis has access to the most suitable sensors for future surveillance cameras. You will be part of the team which has technical contacts with a number of sensor manufacturers and help ensure long term alignment with Axis imaging roadmaps.
Your main tasks will be:
• Scout for sensor components
• Contribute to sensor manufacturer relations on the technical level
• Contribute to development of our sensor component test systems and simulation tools
• Take part in strategic planning within the Imaging area
• Together with the group act as internal contact for sensor related issues/questions within Axis
The position will include limited travel to manufacturers and imaging conferences around the globe.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
You hold a master’s degree or Ph.D. within physics, electrical engineering, astronomy or similar area. We think you have deep knowledge in and practical experience of imaging sensor technologies. Further, you are comfortable with one or several tools such as Interactive Data Language (IDL) or Matlab. Specific experience of thermal/IR image sensors is a definite merit. The same is true for good Linux and C-programming skills.
To be successful in this role you must be driven, able to make technical decisions and have a keen interest in imaging and imaging technologies. You have the ability to work well within a team as well as with external parties. You can explain your work to others and is innovative and able to think outside the box.
Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and oral, are required.
THE TEAM
The Core Technologies Imaging team is responsible for the long-term technology agenda within the strategic Imaging area. We perform technology roadmapping; execute the roadmap by developing technologies and assist toward platform integration of technologies. We are also responsible for scouting and evaluation of new components, such as sensors and optics. In addition, we act as a core competence centre within Axis. We also define test methods and standards to be used by Axis as a whole.
