We are now looking for an HPC Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen our newly formed HPC (High Performance Computing) simulation ecosystem team.
The role is key for the strategy definition, ecosystem integration, management, analysis and resolution issues in complex Linux and Microsoft ecosystem in a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment. The successful candidate ideally would be based in Europe (preferably Stockholm, Sweden or Pordenone, Italy).
The position requires to stay abreast of new and emerging technologies, provides advice as to whether and/or when such technologies should be adopted by the organization, plans the adoption of assorted technologies, and ensures the proper integration of new technologies into existing systems and procedures.
The role is essential for the modernization of the HPC service globally, aligning the delivery and development of the service with regional hosting organizations, as well as with the application owner ensuring a stable and future proof service. The target environment consists of infrastructure present in USA, Brazil and Italy. In the near future, the environment will also be extended to a cloud service provider.
Your main tasks:
Be "accountable" for HPC platform globally working with incident resolution, system optimization addressing operational issues.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for everything related to HPC including Linux, configuration management, job schedulers, hardware, applications, etc.
Be responsible for solution evaluation and implementation through small to medium sized projects.
• Be responsible for the administration, integration and maintenance of HPC including advanced filesystems, enterprise storage systems, visualization environments, job scheduler, and networks.
Work with computer hardware, HPC integrator, cloud providers (for hybrid solution) and software vendors to identify, develop, test and deploy HPC services to guarantee state of the art solutions.
Collaborate closely with R&Ds to define specifications and services to be implemented
Work with other high-performance computing and systems administration staff and with technical team leaders to accomplish complex system integration, deployment, and administration projects, system performance analyses, problem resolution, and system security initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in managing service/technical delivery in the HPC enterprise environment including administration of network, servers, storage, clients etc.
Experience with storage concepts such as scale-out NAS (NFS), SMB, parallel filesystems, POSIX, and object storage (to name but a few)
• Experience with parallel computing (HPC), job scheduling, cloud bursting, performance troubleshooting &optimization, operating environments at large scale
• Experience in PLM systems (eg. Teamcenter) and SPDM (eg. Heeds, Modefrontier, Volta, Isight)
• Good understanding of HPC and cloud delivery models.
• Experience in supporting product simulation application on HPC infrastructure (eg: Ansys Mechanical/CFX/Fluent, Siemens CCM+/Nastran, 3DS Abaqus/Catia, Altair Hyperworks)
Experience supporting large enterprise environments and mature change management
Solid understanding of general data center infrastructure and technologies for server equipment on Hybrid context
• Strong teamwork skills, attention to details, good stakeholder management and influencing decision making.
