At Rock Tools, part of the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions business area, we're now looking for a Head of Production Units Sweden. This is an excellent opportunity for an inclusive and visionary leader to make a mark in an influential role and guide our Swedish production units further into the future.
Do you have a passion for people and production, and are ready to create world class in our daily operations? Then this is the job for you!
Division Rock Tools deliver advanced products and solutions for the mining and construction industries, serving customers across all continents. Our Swedish production organization includes over 700 brilliant employees at two sites - Sandviken and Västberga. Our highly automated manufacturing site in Sandviken produces rock drilling tools and is our largest globally, located right next to our global headquarters. Västberga is a strategic site with a high focus on R&D and this is where we produce the cemented carbide inserts used in our products.
Your mission
In this broad role, you have the overall responsibility for our Swedish production units in Sandviken and Västberga. The latter has an operations manager reporting to you, so you're based and spend most of your time at our Sandviken unit, as you take on the direct management of the whole site - including areas from facility management to sourcing, quality, finance, planning and logistics, and of course, production. Your job includes a mix of delivering on daily operational targets and paving the way for our long-term strategic development. You establish a proactive organization where health, safety and sustainability are vital parts of our operations and culture - always!
Change management is an important part of your job in the upcoming years, as we're in the middle of a change program which includes new ERP systems, seamlessly integrated data flows and scaling up our rotary bit production. With clear vision and communication, you create an understanding and lead an already established project organization through increased digitalization, new processes and implementation of best practices. You carefully follow up on the required competency shift, process efficiency and value-creation.
You lead through others while keeping a strong presence in our daily operations, making sure to understand every aspect of our business - from the pulse of the production all the way to our top management. By actively working to bring people, processes and technology together, you aim at improving our unit and you nurture development and progress in important areas such as safety, digitalization and sustainability. People involvement is a cornerstone in everything we do, and you create strong engagement among our employees and promote a safety-first and continuous improvement culture.
You're an important member of our Global Operations management team, where you contribute with your holistic view of our operations, and you report to the Vice President Global Operations. Some international travel is included in your role.
Your profile
We're looking for an experienced leader, with focus on both people and results - someone with a systematic working style, who easily balances operational and strategic topics. Knowing how to drive change and inspire teams is important, as well as being a committed promoter of diversity - enabling us to leverage the combined skills and experiences of our diverse talent. You have a background of managing big organizations within operations, production or supply chain, with multiple levels of direct reporting managers, and you're skilled in Lean manufacturing principles and managing industrial relations. Equally important is to understand business drivers, and how to transform a vision into a strong activity plan to reach full potential. Your experience is backed by a relevant technical or business degree, and you must be fluent in English, while knowledge in Swedish is a definite advantage.
You strive for high quality and great results, and you're excellent at stakeholder management and at prioritizing and making decisions, as well as in challenging us to look at new perspectives. By communicating in a confident, structured and informative way that brings people on board, you set the direction for our operations and make things happen. Development, involvement and endurance are winning keys in this role, and you truly are a passionate and encouraging leader!
Our culture
Our role is clear - through every action, every day, we make the shift and advance the world through engineering. We believe in an inclusive, equal and open-minded culture, and we nurture our diversities to form a solid foundation for achieving great results. Add fair and rewarding benefits, as well as many different career options. Are you intrigued? Visit our website, LinkedIn or Facebook page to get to know us further.
