Role overview
We are hiring a Head of Ground Operations who will lead people, process and systems so that each one of our millions of deliveries is on time as promised. This role is challenging and appeals to people who like managing physical operations and everything that comes with it like productivity, efficiency and development.
From managing the supply side with carriers, innovating sorting facilities, to driving efficiency in the last-mile and launching new strategic bets, you'll be involved and lead the full range of levers to measure and improve our logistics operations. Everything will have a direct impact on Aimee's ability to continue to provide the best delivery experience in the world.
This role calls for a combination of operational mindset, analytics skills, and the interpersonal abilities to manage teams such as dispatch, sorting, and partner relationships. It's a highly data-driven role.
This is an intense and critical role that will lead a central part of Airmee's business: it's logistics operations. As the Head of Ground Operations, you will create and build upon operational plans, drive a mind-set and culture of continuous improvement. As every second counts in our business, a sense of urgency needs to be at the core of this role.
The role will mainly work from our office at the main sorting facility in the suburbs of Stockholm.
So, what will you do?
• Lead and empower the Operations team, motivate and leverage individual team members to continually up-level their results across all core operational metrics.
• Develop, implement and drive metrics for every aspect of our operations (linehaul, sorting, loading, delivery, etc.) on a daily basis.
• Develop and implement new processes and routines as well as implement new systems and automation, learning from best practices, to constantly improve our operations, cut lead-times and provide a better experience for our e-commerce customers and end-consumers.
• Ensure that planning and scheduling of our carriers is optimal based on various factors such as forecast, historical trends, vehicles capacity and carrier capabilities.
• Facilitate the flow of information between different stakeholders (tech, sales, customer support, etc.) and lead resolution of any potential issues that impact customer experience and business continuity, in a fast-paced environment.
• Work closely with our engineers to ensure that there is a constant feedback-loop between operations and tech, to increase the automation of and productivity in our operations.
What we're looking for?
• A minimum of 6 years experience in a top tier consulting, strategy, operational and/or tech start up.
• Bachelors degree in science/engineering, economics, finance, management, or similar field (MBA a plus)
• Experience and strong track record from startups within logistics (ride-sharing, food delivery, last-mile delivery, etc.) is a plus.
• Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through deep analytical thinking
• A high tolerance for calculated risk and constant change and a tremendous drive to achieve and inspire
• Disciplined organizational skills - you'll need to prioritize and manage tens of ongoing processes and projects simultaneously at a fast pace
• Able to balance the role of the strategist with urgency while simultaneously managing delivering results in a growing and very fast-paced environment.
• Get stuff done attitude: you are not afraid of rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty
• Fluent in Swedish and English
