• Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial (AP) performance, and material shortage elimination.
• Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
• Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
• Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
• Manage all activities that develop relationships with suppliers.
• conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
• liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers;
• build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers;
• negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided;
• forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
• Develop a purchasing strategy
• evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
• Focus on establishing network of suppliers to support operation in SE Asia, focus on Indian Subcontinent.
Role Summary
Responsible for overall purchasing for the group, ensuring high quality, reliable vendors, and most competitive pricing, and having a transparent purchasing strategy using latest technology and best working practices.
Through effective negotiation, networking and dealing with numbers ensure that all purchasing is cost effective to enable maximisation of profit for the group. Responsible for sustainability, risk management and ethical issues within the purchasing function.
Focus on developing a vendor base in Asia for more competitive pricing and enabling WA group to develop in that region with good local support
Required Skills/Experience/knowledge:
• Minimum 5 years Purchase Management experience
• 10 years of aviation purchasing management experience, of which minimum 5 years in Asia / Indian sub-continent
• Possess professional, friendly and customer-focused personality
• Excellent and proven Analytical and Negotiation skills and commercial awareness
• Proven ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal)
• High Ethics standard
• Fluent English and preferably other languages applicable in SE Asia / India
