The dep. of Vehicle and Transp. solutions supports the Volvo group with innovations, research, dvlpment of future safe and efficient vehicle and transport solutions by providing the Volvo group with technical solutions and key competences in: Human factors, Intelligent vehicle technologies, Applied mech. and surface eng.Vehicle solutions and transport analysis
We are involved in all stages of the techn dvlpment, fr applied research to industrialization.
We look for a groupmgr for Applied Mech. & Surface eng.The vision:support the Volvo group in the innovation and dvlpment of safe and efficient vehicle and powertrain systems.
The group works in following areas:
Applied Mechanics
Performs mech. engineering and R&D in:
Noise,Vibration
Passive safety, Crashworthiness
Light weight, Optimised structures
Vehicle, multibody dynamics
Vehicle thermal management
Surface engineering,analysis
The area focuses on the dynamic parts of the driveline. With increased customer demands regarding fuel economy, reliability, noise comfort and long service intervals. The main competence areas:
Tribology with focus on engine and transmission tribology
Surface engineering ( Surface coatings and modifications for wear and friction control)
The work is carried out in projects with Volvo Group companies in national and international consortia. It is achieved by the use and dvlpment of advanced simulation and experimental methods and equipment.
As group mgr you are responsible for the personnel. This includes; personnel planning, recruitment, competence dvlpment, work environment and setting of salaries. You are responsible for resource planning and project deliveries within the workarea of the group. You shall together with the group and other parts of the org secure a long term R&D plan for the group and the area. Continuous team spirit, competence and method dvlpment are parts of your work. The group size is appr. 15 employees with a mix in age and background - MSc and PhD degrees. The group is located at the Chalmers Techn Park and Lindholmen.You will be a member of the dep mgment team and contribute to the mgement and dvlopment of the dep. Work in collaboration with other parts of the AT&R and the Volvo group org.

Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher in mech. eng. or equivalent
Mgr experience (pref withinR&D)Exp.fr research or prod.dvlopment of complex mech systems pref vehicle and/or powertrain systems.Good comm. skills.Fluency in English.
