Would you like to pioneer the development of our Android-based Infotainment system, drive innovation and help contribute to the delivery of breakthrough experiences for thousands of our end customers worldwide? Volvo Cars Driver Interaction & Infotainment Department is in an inspiring expansion phase in SW development area and we are looking for a Group Manager with exceptional leadership skills and technical abilities to lead the IHU SW Application Development Group.
The department is part of the Vehicle Software & Electronics unit within R&D and is responsible for electrical systems and components in the areas of Driver Interaction (Instrument Cluster, Entertainment Displays, Switches, Climate Control), HMI and Infotainment (Audio, Navigation, Telephony, Bluetooth, Connectivity).
The SW Application Development Group is one of the responsible groups for developing SW for Android-based Infotainment Head Unit. The developers are located in mixed agile teams, and the mission of the Group Manager is to ensure success for the group. Some of the current challenges for the group is to contribute to the launch of the new Android SW platform, support HMI lead for the next vehicle platform and connectivity functionality, and drive the Head Units SW platform for the future challenges and architectures.
Main responsibilities
* Actively participate in the management team for Head Units section
* Competence development of the group and its employees
* Secure adequate development opportunities for the employees
* Support and coach the development teams
Required qualifications
* 10+ years of relevant work experience. People management experience is a necessity
* SW development experience, preferably in an agile environment
* BSc degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
* Committed to participate actively in the management team for the section
* Experience of working in an international environment
* Master the English and Swedish language both spoken and in writing
Meritorious
* Documented experience of development working in the automobile industry
* Knowledge of Volvo Cars development process in general as well as the electrical development process
Personal qualities
* Genuine interest and engagement in management questions and personal development
* Ability to independently plan, drive and follow up your work towards objectives
* Structured, accurate and skilled to summarize and present status of your work
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills: must effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teams, executive management, partners and customers
* Strong team player and relationship builder
* Ability to show courage and build confidence
