Group Manager - Engine Strategy and Research

The group Engine Strategy and Research defines and leads the technology development for engines planned at least 10 years ahead, for all Volvo Car Group vehicles on all markets, ensuring compatibility with the overall vehicle and powertrain strategy and global future environmental and customer goals. We are responsible for engine advanced engineering & research programs including definition of content and pioneering/verifying/balancing/demonstrating systems and technologies. We are responsible for fuel strategy which includes protecting our interest on all fuel related issues, trends (including governmental directives) and technologies on all markets, and defining and initiating research in order to be able to adapt for and implement future fuels. We ensure external and internal financing, administration of especially GTDS gates and delivery on time. This also includes coordinating research and annual investigations, leading to engine strategy and engine system definition, both at Volvo Car Group and Universities. The group consists of project leaders, experts and senior analytic engineers.

As Group Manager Engine Strategy and Research you will lead and follow up on tasks to ensure advanced engineering of future engines that are in line with the needs of Volvo Car Group. It is your responsibility to ensure an engine technology and fuel strategy for our engines and follow up on advanced engineering activities.

Main responsibilities

• Lead, plan and provide the group with sustainable competency on engine development by initiating and follow up on engine related research
• Secure internal and external financing for our activities
• Create a flourishing working environment for your group members
• Group and individual related management tasks such as target setting, follow-up on performance, resource planning, etc.
• Actively participate in section related management tasks
• Develop working methods and processes towards higher quality and efficiency (smart, lean and nimble)

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. in engineering (PhD in engineering is meritorious)
• Excellent engine knowledge
• Project leader or manager experience
• Large network within engine engineering in Sweden and abroad
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• B-driving license
