In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and competent Grants Controller to support our growing finance team and work with Finance team and with our Director of Public Funding to help secure funding for innovation programs and also follow up on how we deliver these. You will be responsible for the grant accounting and controlling.

Some of the key duties include co-ordinating and leading the preparation of grants reporting, assessing the eligibility of costs, collecting information from the project managers and being the principal point of contact for external auditors/grant agencies.

Ultimately, you'll help maintain our company's financial health and compliance and make sure we use our resources beneficially. You will gain increasing experience as the company grows whilst utilising the best technology and develop processes for a lean mean finance reporting function.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist Director of Public Funding with the development of the financial aspects of the business case for grant applications

Support grant agreement assessment and accounting paper for new projects.

Communicate with project managers and monitor the progress of projects.

- Support project managers in completing cost statements, including review of claimed costs, supporting documentation, and eligibility of costs.
- Oversee project records and contracts to ensure terms are adhered to and maintains global and project-level schedule of reporting.
- Maintain all relevant records on income and expenditure for each project.
- Liase with non-finance managers to develop processes and the understanding of financial requirements.
- Liase with project coordinators/lead organizations (if external) and ensure full understanding of reporting requirements.

The person we are looking for takes ownership of the project accounting and provides information to the external audits and grant agencies. Perform monthly reconciliations for grant income and costs, recognize revenue. Ensure controls, process and correct set up in ERP in the order to cash and contract accounting/revenue recognition process in line with group policies. Coordinate the audit process from grant agencies and liaising with external personnel as required.

Education/Experience

- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Audit, Financial reporting or Financial control or similar.
- Degree in accounting, business or similar. Professional qualifications ACCA, ACA or similar are a merit
- Experience with working with grant agencies is a merit
- Experience of working with medium to large companies is preferred.

Specific skills (eg specific programmes, languages, certifications etc.)

- High level of energy and enthusiasm to work in a fast moving business
- Able to work independently and drive issues to conclusion.
- Experience with ERP systems; Dynamics365 experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with knowledge of Excel (vlookups, pivot tables etc.)
- Able to work well with others in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly accurate and detail oriented.
- Business language of Northvolt is English. Swedish is a plus.
