The main purpose of the role is to develop the category strategy, drive strategic sourcing projects, lead fact based negotiations, select suppliers, implement new suppliers and follow up on results, and this for all transport modes on a global scale.
Securing long term development of the supplier base through supplier relationship management (SRM) and supplier development programs, is an essential part of this role.

In the role as a Global Strategic Sourcing Manager-Transportation you will have global contacts throughout SKF Logistics & Demand Chain as well as with external suppliers. It is a dynamic role where you will influence and take part in important and strategic transportation matters. The work pace is high and we are looking for a team player with highly purchasing, transportation and analytical skills.

Job Responsibilities
• Develop the transportation sourcing strategy
• Analyze the category spend data with the support of Strategic Sourcing analysts to find opportunities for cost reduction
• Prioritize strategic sourcing projects based on savings potential and ease of implementation in close collaboration with the SKF transport community
• Initiate and manage strategic sourcing projects in an efficient way.
• Organize & manage cross-functional category teams to execute strategic sourcing activities and ensure the teams understand the business needs, conduct market studies/research and source the most competitive suppliers by defining strong bid strategies, managing RFQ (request for quotations) processes, developing negotiation's strategy and conducting well-prepared fact based negotiations, contracting and implementation of the best supplier base.
• Ensure the sourcing teams use the total cost of ownership (TCO) concept as a foundation for decision making
• Take the technical lead in local sourcing projects
• Lead fact based negotiations for sourcing projects
• Train and support the local transport managers in the SKF Logistics & Demand Chain organization
• Set targets and follow up the performance in the Transportation category (on a local, regional and global level)
• Manage and oversee the implementation of strategic sourcing results. Ensure supplier entry and supplier exit/ switch process is managed according to time plans. Define contract implementation plan. Work in close collaboration with BU's to secure local acceptance of new contracts.

Job Requirements
• University degree (or equal through experience)
• Proven Purchasing and SRM expertise
• Proven experience of people management
• Familiar with TCO concept
• Transport market knowledge (Road, Express and air & ocean)
• Project management skills
• Experience in sourcing of Transportation services
• Experience of working in a large organization with matrix organization
• Experience with sourcing tools is an advantage
• Sound financial knowledge
