Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for both the optimization and development of brand packaging solutions.
Position is responsible for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components.
The scope of the Packaging Development engineer goes across all business categories and geographies as well as interacts on a professional level with packaging suppliers and internal stakeholders from brand, marketing, sales, sourcing, logistics and manufacturing, driving company goals and objectives. The Packaging Development engineer will be organized in R&D SCA Global Hygiene Category* and report to the Global Packaging Director. The position will be located in Gothenburg, and at least 25% travel is estimated.
• The Global Hygiene Category leads SCA's hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation for our three business areas, Incontinence Care, Consumer Goods and Professional Hygiene.



Main Tasks
• Work in the innovation projects to ensure the development of optimum quality packaging with maximum speed to market and effective cost management in line with global brand packaging strategies * Manage the development of global primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components and deliver specifications for both pack innovations and re-design of packaging to support new product changes and line extensions *Provide technical input and recommendations on all packaging related matters and technical training and development to all appropriate areas *Identify and develop innovative packaging concepts including materials, packaging format, printing technology and brand assurance devices with potential business benefits

Key Competencies


Minimum B.S. Degree in Packaging Engineering
At least 5 years' FMCG market experience in technical packaging development, preferably in Plastic Flexible Packaging
Expert knowledge in Plastic packaging materials and Related Plastic
Processing, including lamination and extrusion processes, barrier properties, printing processes, form-fill-seal, packaging functionalities, and associated tests required
Exposure to manufacturing environments and packaging machinery relative to line trials, the packaging process and package integrity issues
Holistic thinking i.e. takes a broad stakeholder perspective and has the ability to understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations and business opportunities
Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence people across different disciplines, cultures and positions
Project management experience, a must
Knowledge of reading and utilizing CAD technologies (AutoCAD or ArtiosCAD)
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Basic knowledge of SAP preferred
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
