Overview
The current position holder is retiring and we are therefore searching for a Global Packaging Development Director to the R&D Personal Care Core department within the Global Hygiene Category.The Global Hygiene Category leads SCA's hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation for our three business areas, Incontinence Care, Consumer Goods and Professional Hygiene.As Global Packaging Development Director you work in close cooperation with the Consumer Goods, Away from Home and Incontinence Care Categories to drive the Innovation portfolio and deliver launches according to 8Q Activity plan. You are responsible for securing the right packaging development competence and resources to deliver on the Innovation projects and to support Business groups in agreed activities. As part of the R&D PC Management team you are also responsible for enabling and stimulating future innovation as well as for strengthening excellence in product development execution.The Global Packaging Development Director reports to the Vice President R&D Personal Care Core and is part of the R&D PC Management team. The position will be located in Gothenburg.



Main Tasks
Lead and develop the assigned Packaging Development team
Secure the right Packaging Development competence, resources and methodologies to successfully execute Innovation projects and to support Business Units in agreed activities
Proactively drive improvements to secure effective and efficient way of working in packaging development within R&D team as well as across organisation
Keep up to date with trends and future demands in packaging area, explore new technologies and transfer the findings into the innovation portfolio
Safeguard product functionality and properties in packaging area. Secure input to the final specification, incl. mandatory parameters in the Innovation projects
Define areas in which research & development is needed to meet long term business needs and brand needs. Initiate and drive enabling R&D projects to deliver on the brand claim ladders and improve state of readiness for future Innovation projects
In cooperation with Technology Area Directors define areas in which Technology development is needed to meet long term business needs and brand needs and identify synergies between Technology platforms in own area
Monitor product competitiveness vs. competitor product offers and recommend project/actions to improve competitiveness in line with brand requirements

Key Competencies
University Degree or equivalent within relevant practice
At least 5-10 years of experience within relevant field(s). Ideally experience from packaging but could also be general R&D and value chain experience
Strong and solid leadership experience
International experience and exposure
Comprehensive understanding about packaging design and features, technologies and materials and how the whole value chain works
In depth knowledge of the innovation development process from idea to launch, incl. Innovation funnel processes and working processes/tools related to product development
Ideally external consultancy management experience
Fluent in English
Ability to travel
