Exhaust after treatment systems (EATS) and mufflers is one of the design groups in the section responsible for Combustion systems. We have the global responsibility of the exhaust after treatment systems within Volvo AB for heavy and medium duty engine range.
The team consists of 19 team members. We work in close cooperation with the rest of combustion development team to develop complete engine solutions that are in front line when it comes to fuel efficiency and emission fulfillment.

We are looking for a Global Component Engineer to reinforce our emission development.

The challenge, as component engineer is to choose and incorporate the right after treatment technology and hardware in the muffler and adapt the system with the engine in order to fulfill the performance, durability and quality criteria set by the different projects. You will be a member of a team that consists of system engineers, performance and application engineers, function developers, buyers and suppliers.

Your responsibility is to develop, verify and validate the emission components included in the muffler but also the complete EATS concept from an emission performance perspective to well defined targets.
A major part of development work is to evaluate the system at VPTs engine laboratory but also at different suppliers.

In parallel a part of our work is to develop and improve our test codes and processes.

Our working environment is very creative with new technologies and inventions and with a large network of suppliers and other external actors.

Main Responsibilities

• Define the emission components and release appropriate documentation.
• Plan, perform/supervise the necessary tests needed to evaluate the concepts.
• Follow up and guide the development work made by the suppliers.
• Define technical regulations and verification tests at supplier.
• Create new methods and test codes.
• Contact with suppliers consultants and universities

Required Skills

• General experience of exhaust after treatment and automotive catalysis.
• Experience of emission testing preferably on diesel engines and exhaust after treatment systems.
• Good knowledge in GTTs internal systems such as KOLA, TIKA, PROTUS, Office, PDM-link.
• Holistic view

Requested Qualifications

• Master of Science in Chemical engineering or similar.
