We currently have the following job opening;
Geometry Engineer
Geometry Engineer provide up front input to product engineering to enable manufacturability and reduced manufacturing complexity. The task for the role is to drive industrialization and verification of the vehicle geometry systems regarding product and process and to verify final demands on complete vehicle. The daily work is a part of a global cooperation with an inspection preparation team based in China.
You will support the following functions within the group:
- Contribute to the geometry assurance work through creation of, reviewing of and approval of MP drawings for single parts, delivery units, in-house subassemblies, subsystems and for complete vehicle PII's.
- Drive Process Driven Product design and align the CEVT/Geely ME/SE community to ensure "one voice" of manufacturing tolerance requirements.
- Support the Matching & TPC process, give input to resolutions and keep track on all related issues.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Make reference point systems and tolerance setting for single parts and in-house assemblies.
- Give input to tolerance setting from a Manufacturing point of view and approve the requirements from ME side.
- MP-drawing and work distribution plan for delivery unit, single part, in-house subassembly, subsystems and Body In White.
- PII and work distribution plan for final demand verification.
- Provide R&D and GAE/GAA with MP-drawings on delivery unit drawings.
- Participate in engineering meetings and take part in resolving matching issues and inspection preparation issues.
- Project gateway and milestone reporting on regular basis.
Competence Requirements
- A degree as a certified engineer in mechanical engineering, automotive process engineering or industrial engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience of dimensional and geometry assurance.
- Subject experience concerning the production of single parts, complete bumper, assembly concepts, manufacturing methods, design features, clamping concepts, planning processes, quality requirements and measuring methods for single parts.
- Good knowledge of statistical process control.
- Good level of analytical, oral and written communication ability.
- Demonstrated high levels of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate others, and raise work output and results.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Thorough knowledge of dimensional engineering and body manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read product drawings, GD&T drawings and Tool Design drawings.
- Good computer knowledge including CATIA, RD&T and Team center.
- Knowledge about dimensional simulation software and methods.
- Fluent in English (oral and written), Chinese is beneficial.
- Ability to travel on a global basis, mainly China, is required.
