The section Powertrain Combustion System has the mission to ensure that the development of the next generation engines, that reflects our brand essence of 'Customer Success'. The department is responsible for developing Combustion Systems and Exhaust aftertreatment systems (EATS). We ensure that all legal (emissions and OBD) and costumer attributes (Power, fuel consumption & drivability) is met.

The group System Analysis & Simulation at consists of 14 simulation engineers within 4 different areas; 3D CFD analysis, EATS analysis, 1D flow system analysis and Virtual test rig simulations. The overall mission for our simulations is to minimize fuel consumption (CO2) and emissions.
We are now looking for a new employee in the area of 1D flow gas exchange simulations. The main task for this job is to perform 1D flow simulation for diesel & alternative fuels engines. The job involves extensive contacts with other groups within the department as well as external contacts with people from other areas and other Volvo companies around the world. The daily work is done in close cooperation with the members of the simulation and engineering team. Do you want join us in creating Engineering excellence through simulations?

Job Summary
• Perform complete gas exchange simulations in GT-Power
• Analyse simulation results, recommend improvements and design solutions, perform concept studies, present the results to the internal customers.
• Cooperate with other simulation engineers for exchange of simulation results as input to their simulations or to get input to your simulation
• Examples of tasks: Engine Brake studies, valve system selection, turbo matching, heat management analysis, performance concept studies, support other simulation activities with data and results.
• Document analysis and results in engineering reports.
• Actively contribute to system and component development and recommendations for project studies and evaluations.
• Active dialogue with designers, performance engineers, test engineers and project leaders.
• Ensure the simulations are well correlated to measurements.
• Continuously propose improvements of methods to the simulation team.

Required Skills
• Experience in gas exchange analysis in GT-Power or similar.
• Knowledge in powertrain fundamentals, combustion and emissions
• Knowledge in Matlab, Fortran or Python
• Strong ability to work in cross functional teams as well as being able to work independently
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Structured way of working
• Good documentation skills
• Committed, driven and engaged
• Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent
• Proficient in English, written and spoken
• Fluent in Swedish is preferable
