Frontend Engineer - Self Service
What's in it for you?
In the Consumer Digital organization, we are a group of customer-centric product teams that work together to build products that make owning a car better. We work on products and platforms such as Volvo On Call, Connected Car Cloud Platform, Service Booking, Connected Safety, Customer Care Chat, Volvo ID, over-the-air updates, car connectivity, and APIs for building new innovative services.
The teams are located in the Swedish cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Lund, as well as US and in China. Many of the people you will be working with have experience from start-ups and global tech companies such as Spotify, Google, Ericsson, Microsoft, Tradera, Klarna and King.
We are looking for a Frontend Engineer for the team based in our Stockholm office, however you can work REMOTE if you wish. Your future collogues are a group of skilled cross functional engineers currently engaged in product development under the Support, Customer' Care and Self-Help mission.
What you'll do
You will work together with backend and frontend engineers as part of a cross functional team. As a Frontend Engineer you will have the opportunity to contribute with technical leadership aligning architecture and driving technical initiatives for greater impact in your team and the organization.
Our current stack for building web user interfaces and frontends includes, but is not limited to, JavaScript/Typescript, VCC-UI (Volvo Cars proprietary react framework), React, Node.js and GraphQL.
The infrastructure is built on top Docker/Kubernetes/AWS setup with a CI/CD based on Jenkins and Spinnaker. These tools will enable you to contribute, and build innovate car ownership experience daily.
You and your skills
We expect you to have experience building modern web apps, user interfaces and frontends and have strong knowledge of the Web Platform (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS) and Software Engineering practices. Also, you understand the challenge and value of building consistent, responsive, resilient and accessible UI.
We want people with a growth and learning mindset, therefore we don't expect you to have knowledge of all the tools, concepts and technologies that we use. Instead, we expect you to have an attitude towards acquiring the knowledge necessary to do your work. To be successful in this role you need to take charge, as well as being a team player and having integrity.
