We are now looking for a Full-time Front-End Developer, that is also a strategic IT partner, to drive our holistic approach to all online activity across the Nordic region.

The IT department's key responsibility is to ensure the ability of Greenpeace Nordic to achieve its goals by being a strategic partner to other departments and provide the right tools, systems and support to ensure staff can operate effectively.

About the role:

Based in our headquarters in Stockholm, the Front-End Developer belongs to the IT Unit and will be working closely with The Nordic Digital Agency. This position will receive Graphic Design assets to implement into working html, css, .php, xhtml or Javascript web applications, sites or social media landing pages. The individual in this job should have a holistic approach to all online activity and it is imperative that this role have specific focus on Front End Development and technical integration to our back-end systems. Being able to feed in requirements to other Greenpeace  or external developers when needed is also a must. This includes, but is not limited to, our fundraising databases, international Greenpeace systems and third party suppliers. 

The Front-end Developer is responsible for developing interactive web based and mobile applications, using Industry best practices and standards. The role is also responsible for leading key development tracks or external teams/developers in key Interactive technologies. As a key partner to The Nordic Digital Agency, this role could also include estimating and planning of new development components to be delivered when creating new Plans for Mobilization Projects to ensure we are scoping for the right amount of resources.

About you:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar work experience

• Good knowledge of object oriented JavaScript -including design patterns, JQuery r,  (x)HTML and CSS.

• Working knowledge of Photoshop or similar Graphic applications in order to splice images to be converted to working html, css, php, xhtml or Javascript web/social media applications

• Understanding of cross browser compliance and compatibility and knowledge of code quality tools and tuning application codes

• Working knowledge of PHP, semantic coding & code optimization

• Understanding of User Experience Design in order to give input

• Accessibility knowledge in Web applications

• Excellent skills in technical documentation

• Experience in SEO / Search Engine Optimization

• Motivation to work with both Front End development and creating fun and engaging web applications to increase the amount of online engagement such as subscribers to Greenpeace Nordic

• Good knowledge of internet technologies, networking, web services and protocols

• Interpersonal Relationship and Communication skills

• A take charge person that displays a sense of urgency in their approach to work

• Ability to prioritize when under pressure and circle back when having conflicting priorities

• Must have good written and spoken English and one other Nordic language.
