In this position you will be joining our Research and Safety Division (RSD), which delivers over 800,000 different products to a wide range of laboratory customers, helping them to accelerate life science research, solve complex analytical challenges, improve patient diagnostics and increase laboratory productivity.

THE ROLE
You will be one of five Trade Compliance Specialists in Europe and report into a Manager based in the UK. The ideal location for this role is in Gothenburg (Sweden), but you could also be located in Strasbourg (France), Loughborough (UK) or in Schwerte (Germany) - we have offices in all the locations. Our Gothenburg office is a newly built, state-of-the-art office and warehouse where approximately 50 employees work together. As a Trade Compliance Specialist your responsibilities will be to ensure that items created across RSD businesses comply with regulations regarding Trade Compliance and Regulatory Affairs.

You will need to establish strong working relationships with colleagues around Europe and across functions, and also with relevant country authorities in order to promote Thermo Fisher Scientific's reputation.

Your responsibilities:
• Support, maintain and implement the compliance strategy to ensure that European businesses comply with aspects of possession, supply, purchasing, importing, selling and exporting of the product portfolio contributing to building a business capable of becoming the number one channel to market in Europe.
• Support the export and import transactions the European Fisher Scientific businesses when compliance issues are raised.
• Perform relevant Due Diligence checks which may prevent sanctions violations while ensuring legitimate trade continues to flow.
• Liaise with Freight Forwarders and Customs Officials when compliance issues are raised. .
• Contribute on the continuous improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Provide robust compliance support regarding any product to suppliers and supply chain, customer service, marketing and sales team.
• To liaise with suppliers regarding the supply and management of chemical weapons, drug precursors, controlled drugs, chemical weapons, dual-use items, ethanol, partially denatured alcohols, mineral oils, military-use items and US-origin items.
• Ensure the completion of annual reports of controlled drugs, drug precursors, chemical weapons, ethanol, partially denatured alcohols and mineral oils by the provision of data.
• Develop and maintain an audit plan for the European RSD businesses to compile signed and dated Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) letters from resellers and distributors through control in our ERP system
• Validation of commodity codes provided by suppliers to product managers during the item creation process
• Provide customer service, product management, and third party procurement teams support with regulatory aspects of item creation.
• Participate in, develop and conduct training activities for individuals and groups pertaining to Trade Compliance regulations.
• Effectively perform your duties whilst acting all times in accordance with the Dignity at Work Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics; and our values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
To suceed in this role you need to have proven knowledge of European Trade Compliance regulations and directives for both import and export, and ideally dual-use-products. Strong organisational and communication skills are key, as is a customer-focused approach. You should be someone who works as well independantly and is able to drive their own and others' work forward, you should also be good at working in an international team where people are located at different sites throughout Europe. Fluent English a solid IT skills are essential as is an ability to travel for work occasionally (approximately 10%).
