You will be part of Power Grids division in ABB. Our Power Grids division is the world's leading supplier of power and automation products, systems and service solutions for the entire value chain from power generation to the transmission and distribution of electricity. The offer spans transformers, high voltage products, systems for power transmission and solutions and automation for integration and interconnecting power grids - to enable a stronger, smarter and greener grid.In your work you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) business unit that is a part of ABB's Power Grids division and is located in Ludvika.?The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This ABB developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems.Tasks As an engineer working at system design department, you will be responsible to perform various studies and calculations to come up with a design that fulfills demands for HVDC stations. Your work tasks can include performing electrical calculations and simulations for the dimensioning of HVDC systems and converter plants, analysis and optimization of the system dynamic performance for our HVDC-deliveries including development of control algorithms, specifying high voltage equipment or making sure the HVDC plant is constructed in an optimal way. The system department is organized in seven different departments and we are currently looking for engineers for several different positions.The goal is to have cost-effective solutions considering several different technical areas as well as practical aspects like ease to construct and install. Your main stakeholders will be Customers, Project Managers, Lead Engineers and Product Managers but communication with people from different areas is needed daily.You will be part of a team in Ludvika supporting all ongoing tenders and projects.In this role you will have a lot of opportunities to develop and being part of the exciting journey that lies ahead of us. You will be located in Ludvika and travelling may occur a couple of times a year. RequirementsYou hold a Master of Science degree in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems or similar. Experience in working in similar business is advantageous but not a demand. Your personality is of high importance. We look for a positive, problem solving induvial with the attitude that everything is possible to do in a team. You will work in a team where being able to take responsibility and willingness to learn are key features.
