The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Electrical Engineer at the Electrical and I&C section of the Design and Engineering Group.

Description of directorate/division

The Engineering and Integration Support Division is the central technical division providing transversal support and services to the ESS project and organization. The existing division is divided into 4 groups: Design & Engineering; Integration; PLM & Process Support and Survey, Alignment & Metrology. The E&IS Division is:

• A service provider of engineers and designers for the ESS projects for in-house design activities as well as activities performed by collaborating organizations.
• Responsible for development and maintenance of the generic design rules, design processes including accommodation and maintenance of design systems and tools.
• Responsible for the management of the Product Data Management System, the integrated CAD-model (ESS Plant Layout) and classification and standardization of e.g. components and materials.
• Responsible for central coordination of cables and cable raceways.

Job description

During Design, Installation and Commissioning of the ESS Facility:

Take responsibility for central routing and coordination of cables and cable raceways within the ESS facility:

• Design of cable raceway systems using a 3D plant design tool.
• Routing of cables using a 3D plant design tool.
• Populate the ESS cable database with information needed for design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the ESS facility.
• Take part in procurement planning of installation packages.
• Produce technical specifications for procurement of technical installation packages.
• Evaluation of technical tenders when procuring technical systems and installations.
• Review and assist in creation of the design and requirement documents.

Develop processes and generic rules related to cable routing and design of cable raceways:

• Survey needs of generic rules & guidelines related to cable routing and design of cable raceway systems.
• Establish hardware standards for cables and cable raceway components.
• Take part in the development, implementation and maintenance of engineering processes related to the cable routing and design of cable raceways.
• Assist in defining requirements for the configuration of our plant design tool Aveva E3D.

During initial and steady state operation of the ESS facility:

• Maintain data related to installed inventory of cables within the ESS facility.
• Assist and support stakeholders to extract data of installed cables.
• Update information in tools and databases when changes to the inventory of cables are done.
• Taking on the role as electrical engineer or design coordinator in projects.
• Produce technical specifications for procurement of technical systems, products and installations packages.
• Evaluation of technical tenders when procuring technical systems and installations.
• Review and assist in creation of design and requirement documents.
• Prepare presentations and respond to recommendations from technical design reviews and advisory committees.
• Support in the develop processes and generic rules for design within the Electrical and I&C field.

Qualifications:

• Master/Bachelor in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of experience from Electrical Engineering within the industry or within scientific projects.
• Experience from plant design within the Electrical and I&C field.
• Experience from using PLM/PDM, CAD & Engineering tools related to electrical engineering. Experience from cable routing in Aveva E3D is beneficial.
• Experience in work with governing documents and standardization is beneficial.
• Experience from hands on work within electrical installations is beneficial.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Strong problem solving, analytical methods and technical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in and with team(s).
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems/issues and has good judgement.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

Start date
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
