The role
We are now recruiting an editor with special responsibility for managing larger publications projects and coordinating our publications production process. The position presents an opportunity to join an internationally leading research institute in Stockholm and ensure high quality written material through editing, writing and project leadership of SEI publications. The Production Editor role will be divided between work with editing and writing SEI publications and other editorial outputs, work leading publication projects, including larger outputs such as the annual report, and coordinating the work of the global publications team publications workflow.
Our communication activities as a whole are strategic and agenda-setting and make research insights accessible and actionable. We will place emphasis on knowledge synthesis and reaching key international policy audiences and use our global presence to develop narratives and ground our engagement in local needs and help our partners tell their stories. Traditional communication products are complemented with tools and services that enable practitioners to apply knowledge directly to their decision making or deliberation processes.
Key duties and responsibilities include
Maintaining production schedules (working with the in-house editors and freelance editors and typesetters, and authors) sending and receiving material as required
Editing scientific texts and proofs, ensuring alignment with our house style
Project-manage large projects such as the annual report, and other substantial outputs.
Ensure alignment with SEI's visual identity
Publish content in the website CMS
Support with handling budgets for multiple concurrent projects
Development of publication and editorial formats and modes of delivery
Capacity building in writing and publications, and other editorial output
Support the work of the global publications team and coordinate the publications production process

Formal qualifications and knowledge
Academic degree in communications or English or journalism
At least eight years' experience in communications, digital publishing or journalism, ideally in a science field, with at least five as an editor and/or writer
Good project leadership skills demonstrated through tangible outputs
A native English speaker with excellent oral and written communication skills in English, for both technical and public audiences
Experience in leading complex projects together with multiple stakeholders

Personal skills required in the position
Solid copyediting and proofreading skills
Good science writing skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills and strong relationship management
Ability to set priorities under pressure
Excited about working within an expanding digital workflow system
A flexible, upbeat attitude to the job and to working with a like-minded team
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Suite, Referencing Tools, CMS, and PDF production
