We are looking for an inspiring leader with a passion to develop people and organizations to our site in Södertälje, Sweden. It's a 9 month temporary position with the possibilities for extension.

As a Director within Packaging Material Management you and your team will drive cross-functional improvements and new ways of working, making a difference to patients.



You will be a key player within the Sourcing & Supply Leadership Team, having an important role to support the manufacturing and actively collaborate in the AZ network.

The main responsibilities are:
• Develop and improve existing packages, implement new packages and artwork, secure legislations and functionality of all packs.
• Support and secure new product introductions and transfers of products to other pack sites.
• Set of a continuous improvement culture within the function including actively enable cross functional improvements.

• Ensure that the organization maintains a high level of capability through targeted employee development and recruitment.
• Support and influence global functions to continuously improve and develop the supply chain and packaging processes of AstraZeneca.
• Lead and participate in projects and internal and global work teams.


Requirements - Education and Experience
It is required to have relevant university education and/or a degree in engineering, combined with experience of manufacturing, supply chain management, quality or engineering. Leadership experience from handling issues and challenges in a matrix organization are also required.



The Packaging Material Management field within AstraZeneca is broad and complex with many local and global stakeholders, hence ability to lead and act professionally in a global environment is important. Excellent communicating skills and fluency in English and Swedish (written and verbal) are required. Broad knowledge/understanding of Lean and continuous improvement is a desired prerequisite.

Sweden Operations is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing sites in the world. The site supply to 100 different countries and counts for ~35 % of the total volume of AstraZeneca's sales.

The site has ~3500 employees. The site is also the primary launch within the AstraZeneca network and many of the products in AstraZeneca's exciting pipeline will be launched from Sweden Operations over the next coming years.



The Packing Material Management function consist of ~30 employees and belongs to Sourcing & Supply. Sourcing & Supply is a support function within Sweden Operations covering the E2E Supply Chain through the site including management of New Product Introduction and Supply Chain Changes. Sourcing & Supply include ~400 employees, working closely with the different factories by manage both physical material handling and logistics as well as a significant numbers of Business Processes with high potential to impact the performance out from Sweden Operations.

Packaging Material Management ensures functional packaging material and artworks and is responsible for maintaining, improving and changing packages & packaging materials and artwork to support our manufacturing facilities in continuous improvements and problem solving. The development of new packaging material is made in close collaboration with New Product Projects, Procurement and global functions. The team also work closely with internal and external suppliers and customers of AstraZeneca, whilst maintaining close collaboration with the Global Supply Chain functions.
