The newly opened Uppsala office works with R&D projects related to the core infrastructure to ensure that Klarna stays ahead of the fierce competition. Our main system is written in Erlang but the Uppsala team will mainly build new components based in other technologies. Currently we are looking over the data flows, storage and analysis to improve the way Klarna can utilize the large amounts of data collected throughout the organization. Now we are looking for a Development Manger that will build and develop a highly skilled team of developers and data scientists.

The Uppsala office has a special place inside Klarna since it will focus on new technologies. It is almost like a start-up with the benefits of a big company, with a rapidly expanding and mature business, no java legacy and complex technical problems. We can build something from scratch and know that we do it right from start. This is where you come in. Your mission is to develop a team of true craftsmen that always choose the right toolkit for the problem at hand. Together you will build a new tech stack from the ground up.

As a development manager you understand how to make a team succeed and how to develop skilled engineers. As a skilled engineer yourself you are expected to take part in technical discussions and decisions. Your scope includes data vault storage, streaming database analysis and the impact of how different ways of choosing what to sacrifice in the CAP theorem influence different parts of our platform. The team will grow to 10 employees during 2013 and you will be hiring great talent on an international market.

You have a proven track record of managing software development teams in a technically demanding environment. We expect you to love working with highly skilled developers in a fast growing environment. Your skills include many different domains and you have gathered knowledge from different programming paradigms and levels in the tech stack. You are used to working with TDD and agile methodologies and always look for the best solution to the complex problems that your team faces. We are sure that you will face many new and unfamiliar technical challenges.
