Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.Do you like to use your knowledge in chemistry to solve real world problems? In that case this might be your dream job! At Scania's Material Technology department you will get the possibility to work conceptually with the complete propulsion system, addressing questions where the laws of physics and chemistry set the boundaries, and you are to explore them.

We are looking for a new colleague to the Propulsion System Chemistry group at the department for Materials Technology at Scania. The group consists of ten experienced and highly skilled development engineers and technicians. Our task is to supply expert advice on material and chemistry related questions for the development of the world's best propulsion systems for trucks and buses. We are a part of the Scania's department for Materials Technology that consists of more than 50 people and is a part of Scania R&D.

Main responsibilities
You will be working with material related questions focusing on catalytic materials and the exhaust aftertreatment system. The work relates to all stages in the product development from research and product development to field quality issues. This work includes topics such as catalyst life lengths, where the connection between the aging of the material and the performance of the aftertreatment system is a key issue. Other important issues is the impact from renewable fuels on the exhaust aftertreatment and fuel systems. Recently material questions around the use of hydrogen as fuel in engines and fuel cells have come in to focus. In order to solve all these questions you will use variety of analytical techniques, and a good understanding of material and chemical analysis is important. The job will require some experimental work.

You will also have the possibility to expand your knowledge by initiate and lead research projects in collaboration with research institutes, universities and external companies. In this work it is important to have a broad understanding about the future needs of Scania and our customers.

Materials technology is involved at all stages of the product development by helping our internal customers to do smart material choices and support with expertise to help increasing the quality of the final product.

Requriements for the role
We are looking for you who wants to work with catalysis and catalysts from a material technology perspective. Prior experience of work related to catalysts materials and exhaust aftertreatment as well as fuel chemistry or for fuel cells are meriting.

We are looking for a person who is committed and have a curious mindset and a willingness to come up with new ideas to achieve our goal of delivering the best solutions to our customers. We think that you thrive in a creative environment with many skilled colleagues around you.

You should be customer oriented and outgoing as you will be representing Materials Technology in contacts with our project partners both internally at Scania and externally in contacts with universities, research institutes and other companies.

You should have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or similar. Alternatively a M. Sc. degree or similar in the same areas with relevant work experience.
