Job summary:
As design responsible for engine performance you will work within the engineering department for heavy duty diesel engines and exhaust aftertreatment systems. Your work will be focusing on securing engine performance and feature fulfillment, e.g. power, torque, response, fuel consumption, etc. while staying within design boundaries. The work will is being performed in project form, and you will be involved throughout the entire project, from concept selection until the product is put in production to make sure that targets are met. This will be secured through a close cooperation with the rest of the project team.

You will be working in close cooperation with colleagues within our department, other departments within Engine Systems, Product Platforms, Volvo Group and partners.

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:

• Secure engine Performance and feature fulfillment
• Input to engine design requirements on performance related parts
• Initiate engine simulation and test activities
• Data analysis
• Define feature verification duty cycles and procedures
• Level 3 planning
• Perform feature reviews
• Participate in Engine development projects

Heavy Duty Engine Development Department is part of Engine Systems within Core Technologies and is located in Eskilstuna, Sweden.

Qualifications:

• M.Sc. in Internal Combustion engineering, Vehicle engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanics, or other education judged relevant for this position
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines and exhaust after treatment systems
• Experience of Engine Development, HW & SW
• Knowledge of engine emission legislation and the technical challenges they bring
• Technical knowledge of Construction machines
• Knowledge in Mathematics, Physics and Thermo dynamics
• Good communication skills in English
• Structured and analytical
• Team player
