The Vehicle Control & Chassis department is responsible for the development of Wheel suspension, Steering, Wheel & Tyres and Brake Hardware systems. We deliver systems that are directing Volvo Cars in leading position within Driving Dynamics, Active safety and Driver Experience.
The section Wheels, tires & equipment is responsible for the development of wheels, tires and equipment such as jack, spare wheel and temporary mobility kit. We are now reinforcing the group responsible for wheels, hence we are in the search for a new colleague in the design engineer role. As Design engineer you are expected to be involved in Wheels, tires & equipment deliveries during all phases from concept to aftermarket.
You will act as lead engineer within our team and will be responsible for the in-time delivery of the content in one or more of our projects. You will be responsible to establish and develop relationships with representatives and stakeholders from many areas of the vehicle, meaning you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Cars. Your closest team will include styling, durability, aerodynamics, weight, test & verification engineers and suppliers.
You will work in a creative environment with flexible cross-functional teams. In the teams, we are working together, caring and helping each other in order to reach the best solution. You will contribute with part design in system level and have the opportunity to create and proactively propose new engineering solutions, based on your knowledge, experiences and constructive dialog with other engineers within and outside of company. There are always open possibilities in Volvo Cars to develop and grow, depending on your knowledge, interest, drive and initiatives.
Main responsibilities
We are looking for a Design Engineer within the section Wheels, tires & equipment, where you will be part of the wheels group. To work in our design team means take an active part in the product development and leading different projects. Your main responsibilities will be:
* Manage a team and assure that the deliveries are done in time
* Take a lead in technical discussions, both internal and external, and take a part in strategical question within the field
* Follow new legal requirements and implement them in the projects
* Continuously run test, check-ups and report project status
* Maintain and develop network with other departments within the company and with suppliers externally
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or other equivalent education with relevant experiences
* Experience in project management
* Experience in product development, preferably within automotive industry
* Documented experience using Catia V5 and Team Center
* Fluency in English, spoken and written
* Driving license "B"
