We currently have the following job opening;
Design Engineer Upper Body
As a Design Engineer within Upper Body you will be working on all aspects of vehicle structure development on our future vehicle program for the new car brand Lynk & Co.
We have an end-to-end approach, working within a cross functional team within R&D both in Sweden and China. You will Innovate, Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Release, Develop and Launch Body Structure components and systems. Together we collectively contribute to the whole vehicle specification targets and the overall business of the department and the company.
Responsibilities and tasks
• Develop design concepts and production designs in CATIA V5 with a light-weight focus.
• Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and investment.
• Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments, ensuring laws and regulations.
• Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility and validation activities.
• Represent the department in design reviews and during test and development activities.
• Complete and release detail designs, systems and sub-system in the PLM system.
• Develop and specify GD&T on CAD models or drawing taking into account all inputs from parts suppliers, assembly processes and dimensional management studies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and further development of CAD modelling techniques.
Profile and Background
• Master of Science in Engineering, or the equivalent experience
• Sound understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
• Good material knowledge, with emphasis on high performance and lightweight structural materials (high strength steel, aluminum alloys, carbon composites)
• Good understanding of welded, bolted and bonded mechanical joints design
• Good understanding of GD&T in design engineering
• Knowledge of CATIA V5 is essential.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Swedish.
Personal Attributes:
The ideal candidate is an individual with a strong passion for body design development in automotive who is willing to be challenged with the design of innovative automotive structural materials and concept designs. Ability to flexibly work in vague and constantly changing design direction and conditions.
Enjoys being a team player and can work closely with project and lead engineers as well as with suppliers.
