Are you an engineer looking for an exciting position in the marine business where you can use your interest in design to develop a complex propulsion system? We can offer you the opportunity as Design Engineer in the Pod team at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn, Sweden.
PODS are high-end, fully electric azimuthing thrusters with the motor fitted inside a rotatable propulsor, directly driving the propeller. This is part of our portfolio of environmentally friendly maritime propulsion solutions, providing high efficiency, low noise and low oil content.
We are looking for an engineer, who with determination and commitment can contribute to new and forward-thinking designs for our Pod products. You will be part of a competent and positive team working with development projects and customization of solutions for new sales projects. The team is handling everything from development and interface adaptions, to detailed manufacturing drawings and customer relations. In your role will help ensure that the product meets the design requirements and high standards for greener maritime transportation. You will be included in all stages of the product development of our complex propulsion systems, from first drawings to the final test run.

Qualifications and experience
To succeed in this position, we think you have a university education, or equivalent work experience, within engineering, preferably in the field of mechanical detailed design and engineering. Experience or understanding within naval engineering, marine propulsion, hydraulics and/or quality control is considered an advantage. Due to the nature of an international customer and supplier base, high level of English, both written and speaking, is important. Communication skills in other languages is considered an advantage.
