Your role
Being a Data Scientist at Scania involves the following:
You will participate in the journey of transforming data value into business value at Scania
You will be part of a data science team at Scania IT to support various advanced analytic cases at Scania, where - You will be a key player in a team during advanced analytic project where the output and finding is arming the business with actionable insights to perform specific business objective in a specific business domain
You will collaborate with other data scientists at Scania, via different forums, discussing issues like:
- Best practices
- Tips and hints
- Monitoring ongoing development within machine learning fields to keep Scania up to date with latest techniques and platforms.
Your profile
Intellectual curiosity is a pre-condition in order to hold the role of Data Scientist.
Familiarity with math and statistics including
- Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra: Differential and Integral Calculus, Vector-Values Functions, Partial Derivatives.
- Understanding of statistical concepts such asstatistical tests, distributions, maximum likelihood estimators.
Familiarity with software engineering skills to manage algorithms and complex optimizations including
- Knowledge of data structures (Binary Trees, Hashing, Heap, Stack, etc.)
- Complex algorithms such as: Gradient/Stochastic Descents and Primal-Dual methods, Randomized & Sublinear Algorithm etc.
Familiarity with machine learning types: Supervised learning, unsupervised Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and related techniques and methods.
Storytelling capabilities, including:
- Communication and Visualisation skills. Ability to visualise and communicate the findings in different parts of a data science flow.
- Ability to explain complex tasks in understandable manner for business analysts and business users.
Skills in some basic data science tools such as R or Python, and a database querying language like SQL
Skills in data munging and data wrangling: Ability to prepare and transform data into format suitable for data science purpose.
Good knowledge in English language which is our corporate language.
