Data Quality Analyst

Global Medicines Development (GMD) is one of the largest organisations in AstraZeneca with 4300 employees, working in more than 40 countries globally. GMD started its transformation journey in 2016, launching a new operating model to optimise the drug development activities, which is already achieving significant benefits, including simpler, streamlined ways of working and productivity improvements. To support this a GMD Transformation Office has been established to drive the programme of work, referred to as "Our Future Reimagined" (OFR), of which comprises the Data Foundation covering Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Access.

Playing a key role in this programme of work you will work to ensure that data in the GMD Data Hub is of the highest quality, working closely with our Data Hub team, Data Governance team, data stewards, IT representatives and broader data community. The role is pivotal to ensuring that the GMD data is of an excellent standard, with appropriate data lineage developed, and identification and mitigation procedures for quality issues implemented. The overall goal is to build trust and confidence in GMDs data to those who use it and ensure data continually adds new value to the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

With a real passion for data, and the drive and energy to deliver in a dynamic environment, you will be key to improving and growing the value of GMDs data. In addition, you will:

* Collaborate closely with the Data Hub, Data Governance teams, Business Product Owners, and other SMEs/stake holders to support the delivery of data within GMD's Data Foundation.
* Serve as a key point of contact for project support.
* Have key responsibility for a range of source systems.
* Support the development and documentation of Data Quality guidelines and rules, including a prioritization framework for data issues.
* Support the Data Governance and Data Quality Lead in developing consistent Data Quality strategies for the organization.
* Ensure data lineage is developed for data ingested into the Data Hub, including mappings against internal and external systems.
* As required perform technical data analytics and queries to ensure the data environment is fully analysed, anomalies/issues identified, and plans put in place to mitigate any issues.
* Develop processes to track and monitor data quality issues in a timely manner.
* Develop and implement data metrics and reporting (data scorecards).
* Develop solutions to identify data issues working with key stakeholders across GMD and OFR to set suitable timelines and plans for remediation.
* Exhibit a "forward thinking" mindset around data within a pharmaceutical environment, and influence and drive best practices within GMD.
* Engage partners across the Science group and Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) to gain science-wide decisions and buy-in.
* Be comfortable within a multi-system technology landscape to ensure data harmonization within the ecosystem.
* Collaborate across the enterprise to track, address and mitigate data quality issues.
* Identify and support the deployment of automated data quality tools and solutions, including data catalogues, master data management, reference data management, and data quality measurement.

Essential Requirements:

* Diligence - attention to detail with a high focus on accuracy and ability to lead a dynamic programme of concurrent activities.
* Experience in investigating (e.g. root-cause analysis) and diagnosing data gaps in various system patterns, and rectifying challenges in merging data from disparate systems.
* Relational DB management skills (e.g. SQL, VBA) and a high level of proficiency with common analysis tools (e.g. MS Excel, Access, statistical analysis tools).
* Sound practical knowledge of both data management and data governance policies and principles.
* General understanding of clinical drug development and experience with multiple EDC and CTMs systems.
