Volumental is a tech company helping millions of shoppers around the world find perfect fitting footwear. In less than five seconds, our 3D scanner and AI-powered Volumental Recommend can offer customers personalized footwear recommendations allowing shoe shoppers to find the right pair - every time. With customers across the world including New Balance, Bauer, Ecco and XXL, we are on a mission to help 500 million shoe shoppers find perfect fitting footwear by 2025 both in-store and online.

Machine learning is core to Volumental's products and services, both in the cloud and on our edge devices. In order to build amazing products we constantly have to solve challenging and exciting problems, from processing images and 3D meshes to analyzing the users' feet, to considering the fit aspect of purchases to estimate customer preferences. This allows us to help shoe shoppers find perfect fitting footwear and ensure each and every shopping experience is engaging, simple and based on expertise drawn from millions of scans and purchases. And that's where you come in!

What will you work on?

Delivering our machine-learning based products at scale requires a robust and well implemented system for handling lots of heterogeneous data. The algorithms are in many ways secondary to well modelled and organized data and in order to get it clean and get it in high volumes the data needs to be interfaced with and abstracted at the right level. The scale of data processing also offers exciting challenges as we already now are handling millions of 3D foot scans and purchases in volumes of tens of terabytes and quickly growing.

As a Data Engineer at Volumental, you will be part of our machine learning team and be at the middle of all this data. You will have a key role in designing and implementing the full path data takes, from customers and other sources to the training and deployment of machine learning models and back to the customers through our products. You will implement data cleaning and normalization to connect to seemingly different data points, design and implement data models and API endpoints, and collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines to crystallize how data should be structured and optimized.

We are excited about you because you are:

• A self-motivated and collaborative team member
• Open to teach others and learn new things
• Excited by solving challenging problems
• Keen to work in a caring scale-up environment

We expect you to:

• Be able to understand complex problems with heterogeneous requirements and design a system to solve them.
• Have worked professionally with software development.
• Have solid experience in databases (modelling, querying, tuning, maintenance etc.)

Bonus - Don't let these stop you from applying, but if they fit you, please let us know!

• You have 5+ years of professional experience.
• You are proficient in golang and/or Python.
• You have experience or interest in data science.
• A good communicator, both verbally and in writing
• You have experience working with Google Cloud Platform and
• You have experience working with ERP systems
• You have a degree in computer science, mathematics or similar.

We encourage a diversity of applicants to apply!

Our entire company has been to a large degree working remotely during this period, and we are confident about maintaining a creative and efficient environment while away from the office! However, as we do hope to return to the office eventually, you will need to relocate to Stockholm for this role.
