Volvo Car Group aims for leadership in Automated Driving and Active Safety. Self-driving vehicles is the next step in Volvo Car Groups development of the world's safest cars. The department "Active Safety" is responsible all the way from research and advanced engineering to implementation, verification and validation of current and future customer offers. We are strongly focused on our vision to make cars that do not crash.

The group Strategy & Concepts and Advanced Engineering consists of 20 persons. We lead and perform research and advanced engineering activities in the area of active safety, driver support and connectivity. Our ongoing projects include next generation active safety systems, highly automated driving technology, and connectivity solutions. About 1/3 of the group members have a Ph. D degree. There are both project-leading roles and roles for dedicated specialists and "doers" in order to create a creative mix of competencies that can deliver innovations and future concepts. We typically work in the timeframe 2 to 6 years before production, so be prepared to think ahead. Creating new solutions will require new thinking. The work environment is agile, challenging and dynamic.

We are looking for a Data Analyst with a broad competence. Your main task is to analyse big quantities of data collected by vehicle fleets. The data can be collected in field tests like the Drive Me self-driving car project, but also from production vehicles. There is plenty of freedom to take initiatives as long as the main objectives of the assignments are met. We strongly believe in "learning by doing" so experiments in order to achieve even better solutions are encouraged. This is a new role in the department and we think the demand for this kind of skill is increasing in the future. So in that regard you will be a pioneer in your field in our company
Main responsibilities

• Analyse big quantities of data collected by vehicle fleets
• Optimise existing solutions or support development of new safety-related vehicle functionality
• Analyse and find answers to research questions
• Create algorithms that will execute in real- time in our Volvo Cloud
• Development of tools and environments

Required qualifications

• Master of Science exam (preferably Ph. D)
• At least 5 years of work experience within data analysis (not required for a Ph. D with a relevant subject)
• Driver's license B
• Experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, supervised and unsupervised machine learning is preferable
• Experience with SQL, Hadoop, Elastic search, Azure, Map reduce, Spark, Storm, Kibana, MS Power BI, Tableau, Qlik is meritorious
• Knowledge in map data formats, GIS is meritorious
• Experience from cross-functional work with suppliers, OEMs, academia and authorities and experience from agile work methods will be an asset
