MOL0000001C Description The Section for Diabetes and Obesity
seeks a Team Leader to lead Drug Discovery research in the Team for Appetite and
Behavioral Pharmacology. The Arena Within the Global
Discovery Function at AstraZeneca, the Vision of the Cardiovascular and
GastroIntestinal Research Area (RA CVGI) is to "Outperform the competition by
discovering and delivering therapeutic innovations that improve patients'
lives". To facilitate the realisation of this Vision, the RA CVGI is currently
carrying out an extensive reorganisation and the Diabetes and Obesity Disease
Area is expanding. We are now seeking a Team Leader to lead the
collective efforts of the Team for Appetite and Behavioral Pharmacology
Research. The team currently comprises eight scientists (PhD and MSc level). The
team's remit is to provide scientific skills and capabilities in Appetite and
Behavioral Pharmacology research and thus to support projects in all phases of
drug discovery in the section for Diabetes and Obesity and prioritized projects
from other disease areas. The team's remit also includes knowledge and expertise
in the area of brain-gut interactions. Animal experimental and surgery skills
are also part of the core competences. The Team Leader will be a member of the
Section's management team and will report to the Associate Director for the
Diabetes and Obesity Section. The Role The Team Leader will
• be responsible for the scientific and technical development of the
group - set, communicate and follow up on group goals and objectives -
be responsible for people development and performance - ensure quality and
accuracy of data and effectiveness in lab work - allocate resources
according to priorities set by section management - be highly engaged in
day-to-day lab work In addition, we emphasize that the successful candidate

Minimum experience/requirements Candidates for this position should
have a PhD degree or equivalent in appetite and behavioral pharmacology, at
least five years postdoctoral training, extensive hands-on scientific experience
of experimental animal research and in-depth disease area understanding
documented by published peer-reviewed articles. The candidates should also have
some management experience (team or project) and have an international
scientific contact network. Preferred experience/requirements
Experience from the drug discovery process is an advantage. More
