Description We are now seeking a highly motivated and creative
PhD Scientist to work on the validation of targets within the section.
The arena Atherosclerosis disease is a growing area within RA
CV/GI, with the main focus to identify and develop new drugs to reduce
cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The current focus is on identifying true
antiatherosclerotic agents targeting the plaque as well as on agents targeting
combined dyslipidemia. Work on the disease area comes within the ACVD
(atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease) section, which is part of the
Bioscience department. The role The Expert Scientist will be
expected to lead project teams in investigating novel targets. This will require
practical laboratory knowledge in designing and performing in vitro and in vivo
studies as well as leading a team of scientists in a research program. The
successful candidate is expected to contribute new ideas for novel targets and
will be encouraged to develop new methodologies for evaluation of targets.
Minimum experience/requirements - PhD with at least 5 years
post-doctoral experience within the atherosclerosis disaease area. Additional
experience in the pharmaceutical industry is appreciated. - Extensive
knowledge in animal models for studying atherosclerosis progression and
regression. - Practical experience with carotid cuff or ligation models is
an advantage - Knowledge of inflammatory signaling pathways, apoptosis, or
progenitor cell biogenesis - Hands-on experience in studying lipoprotein
metabolism in vivo and in vitro is appreciated - Ability to lead research
teams in project development and communicat well with the target management
team. Preferred experience/requirements Extensive knowledge
within the atherosclerotic disease area and considerable understanding of the
mechanisms involved in the disease. Proven track record in the
atherosclerosis field. Excellent communication skills, both written and
