If so, our expanding Robotics business unit, currently has a vacancy for a Customization Engineer - an exciting role as part of our team in Västerås, Sweden. Our markets are experiencing strong demand, and ABB plans to achieve above-market growth in the segment. Critical to this approach is the development of new products in close co-operation with customers.
Robotics/PRN team develops advanced hardware solutions for robot control systems, and customized versions of such systems, including manipulators, positioners and track-based systems. We work with electrical and electronics design, mechanical design and testing at our laboratories. Customizations are made in close cooperation with our sales department and end customers. Manufacturing for the global market takes place at our facilities in Västerås, Shanghai and Detroit.
As a Customization Engineer, your main responsibility will be for electrical and mechanical design in customer engineering projects. You will also work with customizing software configurations for customers, primarily in the arc-welding segment. Another key responsibility will be the coordination and improvement of quality planning in delivery projects. You will also be required to work closely with customers, suppliers, as well as internally at ABB, to develop new and existing solutions that will grow our market share in this rapidly growing segment.

B.Sc. within electrical engineering or automation engineering
Experience from automation or robotics industry
Min 2-4 years of work experience
Tools: EPLAN or similar electrical design tool, SolidWorks or similar mechanical design tool. Some programming experience, e g PLC.
ABB Robotics develops, manufactures and markets robots and associated control systems, software, arc welding products, tracks and motor packages. We have bases in Västerås, Jönköping and the Gothenburg area in Sweden. Over 90% of our production goes to export and our customers include all major auto manufacturers. The auto industry and its sub suppliers and to an increasing extent general industry, such as the food industry, are automating their production with robots. Welding, machine tending, materials management, grinding, packaging and assembly are the most common applications. Our robots and robotics are sold via local ABB companies and via independent systems integrators and OEM companies - companies we call our Partners.
