Cost Estimator Metal, Volvo Cars Purchasing

Volvo Cars Purchasing is ultimately responsible for the selection of all Volvo Cars' suppliers and has the responsibility for the procurement of all production material and services to Volvo Cars. The supply of materials and services- to the right quality, in the right quantity and on time- is essential to the smooth running of the company and to match our customer's expectations.

Volvo Cars Purchasing is expanding and the Cost Estimating department is now in search of a Cost Estimator to join the team. The role as Cost Estimator serves to provide Volvo Cars Purchasing with specialist competence regarding "value for money" analysis on production part piece price and tooling. The main responsibilities as Cost Estimator will be to control externally purchased vendor part prices and tools and to control and sign raw material and price volume related compensation claims.

Job profile:

• Establish and achieve material cost and investment targets for externally purchased material to be used as benchmark in supplier negotiations.

• Provide technical and commercial support to both Purchasing and R&D

• Support the buyer in supplier negotiations with fact based benchmark prices based on the underlying technical process cost expertise.

• Controlling by to assessing and approve technical part/tooling changes.

• Controlling raw material and price volume related compensation claims.

• Develop rate sheets and cost models for selected commodities and suppliers.

Your profile:

• Technical education, preferably university level.

• A minimum of 5 years engineering experience within the manufacturing/design area or within production managing.

• A background within casting, machining, assembly or surface treatment is desirable as well as a former position as cost analyst, cost engineer or production specialist.

• Experience within purchasing is meritorious.

• Strong communication skills and experience in presenting the status of your work.

• Personal traits of interest are: independence, courage and an ability to think outside the box.
