What you'll do
The role as a Cost Engineer serves to provide the Volvo Cars Procurement and Engineering functions with specialist competence regarding fact based cost analysis on purchased parts and tooling. In your role, you will ensure value for money when purchasing parts, by delivering cost estimates, calculating the piece price cost for production and supporting the team in important negotiations with suppliers. As a Cost Engineer you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travelling to suppliers' manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.
You and your skills
We are looking for you who have a background from manufacturing engineering, process engineering or tool making willing to take on a new challenge. Probably you will have:
* At least 5-10 years of working experience
* Proven knowledge from the manufacturing or tooling industry within one or several of the following areas; Sheet metal forming, Welding (arc, spot, laser), Assembly, Casting, Machining, Forging, Surface treatment, Extrusion, Automation, Industrialization
* A technical university degree or equal relevant working experience
* Experience in cost calculations or a role as key account manager within the automotive industry
Who are you?
On a personal note, we are looking for an open-minded and outgoing personality with good communication skills. You should enjoy collaboration and possess good team working skills. In addition, you need to be business oriented with great negotiation skills and an analytical mind-set.
