At Disruptive Materials you would be joining an expanding business at an exciting time with many various projects ongoing. Disruptive Materials is a spin-off from Uppsala University commercializing Upsalite, a mesoporous magnesium carbonate, with unique adsorption characteristics and pore structure. We offer innovative products and solutions based on advanced patented material technologies for the cosmetics and sports industries.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of R&D, the main role of the Formulation Chemist will be to work closely with the Cosmetics Business unit, R&D, suppliers and producers, developing cosmetic formulation prototypes. Responsibilities of the Formulation Chemist will be to:
• Develop colour cosmetic, skin care and hair care formula prototypes
• Conduct all required chemical and physical analysis as well as performance tests and report result accurately
• Keep accurate records of batches and stability results
• Identify and obtain new raw materials on an ongoing basis, along with appropriate safety/technical documentation, specifications, samples, etc. for new formulations
• Assist in claim support and prototype fact generation
• Be responsible for Cosmetics laboratory equipment, including SOPs
• Collaborate with the R&D team on cross-functional Cosmetics projects
Qualifications
As a Formulation Chemist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
• Must be qualified to MSc degree level or equivalent in Chemistry
• 2+ year experience gained within formulating, preferably cosmetics but not a must
• Knowledge of specifications, cosmetic regulations and technical writing
• Has good attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach
• Take initiative and ownership of own projects
• Ability to work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously to meet deadlines
• Has excellent oral and written communication skills in Swedish and English
• Good team player
