The Act Church of Sweden strives to ensure that quality community based psychosocial support is implemented in sudden onset emergencies, as well as in protracted crises. The community based psychosocial support (CBPS) approach is founded in the belief that disaster affected persons and communities have capacities that help them manage difficulties, illnesses and distress and to recover.

We are looking to fill a full-time position as the Community Based Psychosocial Support (CBPS) Psychosocial Support Method Adviser to join the Humanitarian Rapid Response Program (HRRP) Team based in Uppsala, Sweden.

The Humanitarian Rapid Response Program (HRRP) team

The HRRP teams is responsible for managing and developing the Act Church of Sweden's global rapid response programme. We work together with the ACT Alliance and its partners, providing thematic, method and financial support and is specialised in localisation and community based psychosocial support. We are the leading partner for psychosocial support within the ACT Alliance.

The Act Church of Sweden has a teams-based approach to its work, with members of the team have a joint and shared responsibility for the work and results.

Responsibilities

- Provide technical and method support on psychosocial components in humanitarian and nexus (humanitarian - development and peacebuilding) work to partners, by for example introducing relevant methods, tools and guidelines.
- Further develop the Act Church of Sweden's role in CBPS within the ACT Alliance as a lead member.
- Contribute to an exchange of experience through the global and regional ACT Psychosocial Communities of Practice.
- Contribute to developing methods, materials and guidelines to link CBPS with other thematic areas such as peace building, gender equality and the survivor and community lead response (sclr).

Qualifications:

- University degree in development or humanitarian studies, human rights, political science, social work, global health or public health.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in working with psychosocial support with preference given to work in the humanitarian sector.
- Practical experience in working with quality and accountability to affected populations and knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standard is merited.
- Experience of needs assessment, monitoring and evaluation in relation to psychosocial programming.
- Knowledge in the rights-based approach, gender justice and the humanitarian sector.

Additional skills and qualifications:

- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office package.
- Experience of working with institutional capacity strengthening.
- Proven track record working with project cycle including planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning.
- Experience in working with funding proposals, reporting management and donor compliance, and an understanding of programmatic budgeting.
- Experience working in nexus contexts and with localization.
- Knowledge of documenting best practice and field case studies of community based psychosocial support work through partners.
- Understanding the roll of the Church in the development and the humanitarian sector and the ecumenical movement (Lutheran World Federation, the ACT Alliance, etc).
- Excellent spoken and written English and Swedish are requirements, Spanish and Arabic language skills are an asset.
- Highly organised, independent, reliable, results and detail orientated and able to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

This is a fulltime permanent position, starting as soon as possible. It is anticipated that you will be travelling approximately 11-25 days per year.
