ChemSec (the International Chemical Secretariat) is an environmental NGO based in Göteborg that works to limit the use of hazardous chemicals. We highlight the need to phase out hazardous chemicals and influence and speed up legislative processes mainly in the EU, but also globally. We carry out projects that highlight chemical risks and safer alternatives, and develop concrete tools to reduce the use of toxic chemicals. We cooperate with and enhance dialogue between authorities, politicians, scientists and progressive companies and investors. We are a small, dynamic team of experts from different areas including chemicals, toxicology, policy, finance and communication. Our office is situated in central Göteborg but we have daily contacts with co-workers and collaborating partners in different parts of the world.
The position involves strategic and practical responsibility for the organisation's external communications. You will maintain the organisation's general communications channels as well as being involved in different projects targeting policy makers, companies, financial investors etc. Your responsibilities and focus areas will include media work, coordinating the development of reports and other publications, strategic communications planning, writing and editing texts, as well as communication through our website, newsletters and social media channels. All our external communications are conducted in English, as well as much of our communication internally. Fluency in Swedish is not a requirement.
You have an academic education within the field of communications or similar, and/or experience of working with external communications in an organisation or company. You are able to write explanatory texts with a clear message for different channels and target groups. You also have experience of website publishing as well as basic skills in layout, film and photo editing. Experience of working in the areas in which we operate, such as EU politics and company sustainability, would be an advantage.
Full-time position, one year from 26 August 2013.
Fixed monthly salary.
