Volvo Car Corporation designs, develops, manufactures and markets Volvo Cars all over the world. Its research and development mostly takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo Cars Purchasing is ultimately responsible for the selection of all Volvo Cars suppliers and has the responsibility for the procurement of all production material and services to Volvo Cars.
The supply of materials and services- to the right quality, in the right quantity and on time- is essential to the smooth running of the company and to match our customer's expectations.
The purchasing department at Volvo Car Corporation is divided between purchase of production material and purchase of non-production material (FM&SP).
Transportation Purchasing, FM&SP, is responsible for the purchase of all outbound transportation, inbound transportation, packaging and other logistic services. Total purchasing spend for the section is about 3300 msek.
We are now looking for a COMMODITY BUYER, to be based in Göteborg, on a
temporary hire until 2009-04-15.
Job Description:
Drive and develop all purchasing activities within assigned commodities.
Be responsible for the development of commodity strategies.
Be responsible for market tests, tenders and negotiations.
Actively work with optimizing the supplier base and work with
selected suppliers to lower the costs for VCC.
Be responsible for daily work such as placement of orders, handling of agreements and general administrative work.
Identify and implement cost-savings in cooperation with suppliers and internal customer.
Important qualifications and characteristic:
Good business sense in combination with high integrity ability to dentify best opportunity and a win-win situation on-going.
Strategic skills : ability to create long-term strategies and keep focus on strategic decisions.
Analytical skills ; ability to create and structure analyses, i.e. spend data, market tests and supplier performance.
Skills to manage and lead purchasing projects and ability to work actively in a team.
Social skills in order to create good relations.
Ability to prioritize and deliver in a timely manner.
Very good communication skills, both in writing and verbally. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Swedish.
Technical or economic education on university level (or equivalent).
Driven, flexible and problem-solving personality.
Purchasing and/or logistic experience is a plus.
