hela Sverige Volvo GTT Product Design in Gothenburg is looking for a Chief Designers to Volvo Construction Equipment.
Volvo Construction Product Design department is based in the design studio in Gothenburg, together with Volvo Trucks, Volvo Bus and Volvo Penta. Product Design operates in a multi-disciplinary and global environment, collaborating closely with other functions to create attractive, functional and cost effective solutions for our customers.
Core Responsibilities:
The Chief Designer heads a strategic, aestetic and functional product design competence base, for an assigned product category. The Chief Designer is setting the direction for the design project teams to implement.
A major responsibility is to plan and track project budget and resource need, and to lead the design team in the design process.
The Chief Designer is the main interface between the design team and other project stakeholders and decision makers, such as engineering, marketing and product planning, and need to manage a large global network within Volvo CE.
The Chief Designer is securing a competence base for the product categories, continuously benchmarking the industry, and exploring the visions about future customer needs.
The Chief Designer supports the Design Director in the general development of the processes, strategies and competencies of the Product Design department, for the benefit of the company and the brand.
Reports to the Volvo CE Design Director. Has no direct reports.
Required Competencies:
Masters Degree (MFA) in Design (Product, Transportation, Graphic, Interaction), or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required professional knowledge skills and abilities
Excellent communication skills. Fluent in English, spoken and written. Fully proficient in Office tools like Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Proven ability and interest in leadership
Minimum 5 years of professional experience
