The main focus for the Research department in Galderma Uppsala is to provide concepts for new biomaterials, mainly gel material based on polysaccharides. We are now looking for an experienced chemist, with focus on organic and polymer chemistry. Since one of our colleagues will be on internal job rotation, this is a temporary position until the 31st of August 2018. You will report to Manager Gel Chemistry within Research.
We work in close collaboration with colleagues at Nestlé Skin Health Research in Sophia-Antipolis, France; the world's largest R&D center specialized in dermatology.
About the Role
As a Chemist, you should represent the Research department by independent and efficient work in the laboratory, with synthesis of polysaccharide based hydrogels as your main focus.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Conduct and report laboratory experiments both independently and in cooperation with others
* Collaborate with colleagues from R&D in Sophia-Antipolis as well as external contacts when required
* Perform basic characterization of synthesized materials by e.g. spectroscopic and chromatographic methods.
About You
* Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry, or industrial experience as chemist, preferable in the field of polysaccharide, carbohydrate or polymer chemistry,
* Background in the theory and practice of synthetic organic chemistry. Previous experience from working with polysaccharides and/or hydrogels is a strong merit.
* Good communication skills; fluency in Swedish and English, both verbal and written, is required.
* Working in our Research projects requires that you reliably deliver to project goals with high quality, on time. To achieve this, you need to be highly motivated, structured and able to manage tasks simultaneously with a strong delivery focus.
* As you will be working in close collaboration with people in the group and in projects, you should be open-minded, willing to adapt to changes and enjoy working with others in a collaborative way
