CAE Engineer - Exterior Front

Exterior Front develops big parts of the exterior of the car. The department is responsible for the whole process when it comes to design of exterior systems. The section Exterior Front consist of two groups, Project Execution and Design Engineers. We are working in flexible cross functional teams that are adapted to the specific project. We are responsible for hood, front fenders, fender carriers and brackets, grille shutters, covers in the front, cross member in the front, hood opening and locking devises, hood hinge, horn and more parts in the front. We also handle some complete car demands as pedestrian and geometry.

As a local placed CAE engineer you will work close together with our System Responsible Complete, Vehicle System Responsible in the front and with our pedestrian expert and design team. Your focus will be on Exterior Front but you could also be involved in calculations/simulations for other areas within Exterior department. You will be working independently and you need to find all prerequisites, load cases and methods by yourself which is why you need to create a good network within the CAE departments.

Main responsibilities

• Develop and maintain how to work with calculations/simulations in the department
• Perform dynamic and static FE-analyses of components and systems
• Collect and define data necessary for FE-analyses, e.g. loads, material properties, allowable criteria etc
• Propose solutions for problems found
• Participate in risk judgements
• Plan your work to be able to meet due dates and deadlines
• Create reports and document prerequisites based on your calculations/simulations
• Contribute to Lessons Learned process
• Recommend changes and solutions needed to solve problems

Required qualifications

• University degree in relevant technical field
• Knowledge about the systems we use in CAE such as LS-DYNA, Abaqus, Nastran, modeFRONTIER, LS-OPT, ANSA or MetaPost
• Experience from working with calculations/simulations including composites/plastics materials
• Good knowledge in IT and experience of Linux and Windows.
• Good knowledge in PC
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Driver's license B
• Have good knowledge about the correlation between calculations, physical tests and reality is meritorious
• Knowledge about pedestrian protection and low speed crashes is an advantage
• Experience by earlier CAE engineering roles within the areas Safety or Durability is meritorious
